The Aurin Girls' Choir (Hungary)

We are very excited to be welcoming back the amazing Aurin Girls’ Choir for a concert on Monday 29 June, 7.30pm at St Mary’s Church, Bruton. From the Kodály Music School in Kecskemét, Hungary these girls and the younger Miraculum Children’s Choir have visited Bruton many times and delighted us with their excellent performances. The choir has an outstanding international reputation and have won many 1st prizes including at the World Choir Games (China) and at the Llangollen Eisteddfod.

Dido and Aeneas

Join us in St. Mary’s Church, Bruton, for a very special performance of Henry Purcell’s opera. With a cast led by rising international star Rebecca Leggett in the title role, Bruton Choral Society led by Barbara Jenkinson, and a baroque instrumental ensemble led by Maggie Faultless, this promises to be a night to remember. Bruton Choral Society and The Echoing Air want to make this event accessible to everyone, no matter their circumstances. There are a limited number of tickets for seats in the side aisles available at a reduced rate of £5 for people who would otherwise not be able to attend. The Coat of Hopes

The Coat of Hopes is a precious patchwork garment on a long-term pilgrimage through the UK, made by, and worn and walked by, hundreds of  people over a distance of over 2000 miles so far. This coat carries their hopes in the face of climate and ecological breakdown.

Issue 50 – April 2026

This month’s newsletter is the 50th issue. I would like to take this moment to thank Sarah for her patience, creativity and very high presentational standards in pulling together the newsletter each month. I know that it takes a lot of work, and I hope all our readers agree that the final product is something that repays to the full her many hours of work.

Budapest Cafe Orchestra

An eclectic, 4-piece, acoustically electrifying orchestra playing gypsy & folk-flavoured music from all around the world, the BCO deliver traditional Balkan, Russian, Hungarian and Romanian traditional gypsy and folk music in their own fresh and surprising way. Established by award-winning British composer, violinist and teacher Christian Garrick in 2009, BCO are specialists of the ‘distilled concerto’, e.g. the Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Greig Squeezebox Concertos, and admired for their artful re-workings of masterpieces by the greats of the Romantic era.
