The Echoing Air present Handel's Messiah
We are thrilled to bring our Messiah back to St. Mary’s, Bruton for a third year running. We will, once again, be collaborating with Music for Awhile, led by the redoubtable Maggie Faultless.

We are greatly looking forward to seeing you at our Christmas Concert – in case you haven’t already committed the details to memory, this will be in St Mary’s Church at 7.30pm on Monday 15 December, the perfect moment to enjoy some festive music in a wonderful atmosphere, with a glass of wine to add to the good cheer.
An exclusive concert of one of the few performers in the UK of the ancient wire strung harp. An evening of enchanting music that will take you back in time.
Alessia graduated in Pedal and Lever Harp in 2006 and later specialized in the Wire Strung Harp and in the ancient repertoire of Ireland and Scotland. She’s been teaching different types of harp for 20 years and she is now one of the few performers in the UK of the ancient Wire Strung Harp. She plays a copy of the ‘Downhill’ harp, an early 18th-century Irish instrument.
What have you learned in 2025, and what do you hope for in 2026? Since this is a Church newsletter, let’s pose those questions specifically as regards our thoughts about our shared life as God’s called community in this place, that is, as people of the local Church.
So, where to begin?
Have you heard of the Slow Farming Company? I have seen their signs near Clanville, just outside Castle Cary. As I understand the concept, slow farming and slow food are about finding a way of producing food that pays attention to and values the health of the soil and helps to sustain resilient ecosystems, accepting lower and slower yields than is the case with heavily industrialised and intensive farming practices.
